Magic Animated Buttons - Documentation
Fonts and colours

1. Text formatting.

To format the text (for the moment excluding colours), there are the following parameters. The parameters must be written into your HTML file between the APPLET tags.

<param name=textfont value="Helvetica">
<param name=textsize value=11>
<param name=textstyle value=0>

In the free version the parameter textfont may have the values "Helvetica" and "TimesRoman". In the commercial version you can choose any font which the site visitor may have installed on their computer.

The parameter textsize may have any value you choose. The parameter textstyle follows this scheme: 0 = plain, 1 = bold, 2 = italic, 3 = bold italic.

2. Colour parameters.

The following parameters are available. They take the standard HTML hexadecimal values (FF0000 = red, 00FF00 = green, 0000FF = blue, and so on).

<param name=bgcolour value="000000">
<param name=textcol1 value="ff00ff">
<param name=textcol2 value="ffff00">
<param name=textcol3 value="00ffff">

The background colour parameter (bgcolour) sets the background colour of the applet. This is only needed during loading (i.e. while the images and indices are still downloading).

The remaining three parameters set the colour of the text: textcol1 sets the normal text colour; textcol2 sets the pressed text colour; textcol3 sets the highlight text colour.

3. Text positioning.

In the commercial version (v.3.2+) text can be wrapped over several lines within each button, and aligned right, centre or left with a configurable side margin.

Line wrapping: theoretically the text can wrap over up to 10 lines. However if your button isn't big enough, much of the text will disappear off the edges. Line wrapping is automatic - the applet just wraps any lines that are too long. However if you don't agree with where the applet wraps the lines, then insert "space - paragraph symbol - space" to force a line-break. Copy and paste this § if you don't know how to get a paragraph symbol.

Alignment: use the following parameters. Note that if the text is centred, the margin parameter has no effect.

<param name=textalign value=1>
<param name=textoffset value=10>

The textalign parameter takes the values -1 (left), 0 (centre) and 1 (right). The textoffset parameter takes values between 0 and 100 measured in pixels.
