Animated buttons: Magic Animated Buttons

The "Ripple" version of this menu has 5 basic wave transition animations which change button appearance in response to mouse movement: circular, oval, rectangular, vertical, horizontal. Using speed, wavelength, amplitude and frequency parameters, these can be adjusted to produce endless variations of waves, ripples, shudders, shivers, wobbles, splashes, warps and trembles. There is a free version (slight limitations) and a commercial version.
